My Blue Boudoir

I have been crawling out of my skin ready to redo our bedroom for months. You may recall this post and, of course, there was my home office dreams too. Well, we all do our share of daydreaming in regards to our homes, and decor in general, so I know I am not alone when I say that's usually all they are... dreams. This past weekend with 2e away I cleared my schedule and made my dreams reality with a simple makeover of our bedroom and sitting room. Channeling some of my favorite spaces from recent vacations and all of your daily inspiration posts I came up with something that is the perfect balance of my husband and my different tastes and one I can truly say I love.

The bedroom flows into a small sitting room (that wraps around to the kitchen) but it didn't feel like an extension of the bedroom before. It was an ever changing floor plan never quite settled into so the goal was to create a master suite.

The pictures I posted on Friday all had elements that I wanted to incorporate. The first thing on the list was to get rid of the amber! I had my heart set on green but ultimately I chose Dunn Edwards Rolling Waves because it compliments the caramel and orange tones already present in our leather headboard and nightstand drawers. I replaced the linens with luxurious white sheets from Hotel Collection and framed the bed with a pair of vintage hanging mirrors.

Beyond the brown and cream curtains is the side room which is functional for the first time in years!! Along the far wall I added a credenza from Empiric's line of custom furnishings. We desperately needed more storage as well as lighting and counter space. The glass enclosed shelves are now home to my many cookbooks and the drawers for clothing overflow. The faux bamboo bench is on its way to the upholsterers but for the time being it is where I can plunk down while choosing a recipe. Day and night this room just sort of glows......

I think once you take a peak at the before shots below (by jeana sohn for design*sponge) you will see why I was so in need of change....

No more yellow!!!

Or clutter!

Ya'll know I couldn't stop there so check back tomorrow for a little tour of some other small changes I made around the house.

Oh honey, it came so beautiful!!! Great job. And, although I'm a lover of yellow--I've read it makes people fight more...and blue is calming, so sweet dreams.

That persimmon colored headboard warms the room up, making me want to dive into that gorgeous bed now. Nice makeover
