Life is Good!

Glad to be home but so much to do! Looking forward to a great weekend with May and Charlie; Cirque de Soleil at the Santa Monica pier, early a.m. hikes in the canyon, and lots and lots of laughs.

Back soon!

Featured Items of The Week

I am so smitten kitten with the Janus sofa I just had made for the showroom. It would fit in beautifully in our anniversary suite at the Casa del Mar, no? Maybe that was my subconscious source of inspiration....

Its so feminine and soft with a twist, reversible back cushions featuring only one panel of the floral pattern to keep it light and fresh.

j'adore. info here.

Sunday Swap Meet

Last Sunday we hit the LB Swap Meet and grazed the goods under pleasantly gray skies. Its been so civilized to have a break from the sun these past few weeks but the clouds broke mid morning and its been blue skies ever since.

I can't wait to share some before and afters of a couple sweet finds we scored this day. Not included are the pair of wood and steel loungers but I could make these things amazing!

Maybe if they are there next month......

Happy Friday!

This weekend I passed on a fun girls getaway in order to hunker down at la tienda with my ever growing, never ending, long list of to-do's. Today we traded in the gray and downpours of this past week with bright blue skies and temps pushing 90. Do they make apple cider and pumpkin spice flavored popsicles? Mmmmm.

See you next week!

Wild Thang

Opening Ceremony’s tribute to Where The Wild Things Are has me head over strappy leather heels.

Inspired by the books characters, they are fantasy comes to life without being categorized as costume. Well, mostly....

Vertical Garden

Is everyone in the know about vertical gardens? I have been admiring a few for months now while simultaneously trying to figure out what to do with the strip of wall in my backyard where the ivy just won't seem to grow.

The wall above is the exterior of Smog Shoppe which is around the corner from our house and I drive by often. Isn't it beautiful? It is adorned with Woolly Pockets which is the brainchild invention of Smog Shoppe owner Miguel Nelson and his lovely wife Sherry.

When I googled vertical gardens I discovered that a gentlemen by the name of Patrick Blanc actually invented them and I was in awe as I surfed around his site. He maps out patterns on the walls before planting to create living works of art. They are true masterpieces.

And so it came ot be that two Sundays ago 2E and I hit the local nursery and started planting a Woolly Wall all our own......

Dinner With The Girls

I shared Friday night with 3 of my lovelies at Heathers cozy pad. On the menu, her delicious fig tart, here.

Clare's perfect endive salad dressed to perfection. No doubt, with cue's taken from her time spent with the In Laws in France.

And my fall favorite, butternut squash soup. I had no time to prepare it on Friday so 2E made it for us. So cute!! He garnished it with the top of the squash and some rosemary sprigs a la Martha. I wish we had photographed it before the reheat.

Butternut Squash Soup

Cut squash into 1-inch chunks and steam. Transfer to the Cuisinart and puree, adding half a cup of peanuts as you go. Return the squash to a pan and add 6 cups of stock. Bring to a simmer. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Our meal ended with a variety of delicious cupcakes Jeana (who also took these great pictures) picked up at Joan's on 3rd and, of course, libations. Dee-lish!

Swoosh!

Where did the week go?! I woke up this morning to Friday staring me in my sleep deprived face and a wonderful gray haze hovering overhead. A rare moment of coziness in an otherwise eternal sunshine state.

I have friends in town this weekend and am hoping to steal enough time away from work to enjoy them. See you on Monday Bella's!

After the After

I featured the before and after shots of this vintage trolley in a post back in July. As is often the case I was dying to share the details of its new home but am discreet when it comes to clients and their purchases. Well thanks to the October issue of InStyle I can not only reveal the new owner we can also get a peak at it in its new home.

Christina Aguilara's new LA house designed by Woodson and Rummerfield.

You can check out the house in all its fantastical Alice in Wonderland glory in the current issue of Instyle magazine.

Don't Fret!

Or in the case of this new textile {named Fret} - please do!! I had completely forgotten that I had these pillows on order and actually shrieked when I took them out of the box today. Aren't they lovely?

In addition to the lumbar pillows shown (feather/down fill - $60 ea) I will also be making custom lamp shades and selling it by the yard ($40).

An Interuption From My Interuption

This week flew by with some great interviews under our belts and an impending job offer to extend. I'm really looking forward to having another creative person join our team! This weekend spells more work work work for me but I was able to squeeze a lil' bit of play into my week.

I made lots of yummy dinners. Tyler Florence's recipe for one of them here.

My cocktail du jour! It's pure bliss.

Some more shots of Empiric back in the day.
