Happy Thanksgiving

This year has had its battles, as do all, but amidst the hard days there were some bright shining stars. A few diamonds in the rough. Some silver linings in the clouds and even a couple small pots of gold.

My husband, our friends and the newest addition to my family, Milo.

Empiric! Growing and thriving in such hard times. Proving that hard work pays off when you put ego aside and give real value to your clients.

Our clients! The most loyal, kind customers. Making all the hard work worthwhile.

I am grateful to have this life, the love of so many, a sense of humor about it all and passion for a laundry list of things. And to all of you, who inspire me daily!

I look forward to this holiday season, slowing down and taking the time to appreciate it all!

Illuminated Table Top

My favorite element of design is lighting. It makes my heart literally sing. Little known fact, when we opened the Culver City showroom we were contemplating only selling lamps. One night mid construction I had a dream that 2e wanted to name it Lighten Up. I woke up with the giggles. 3 years later I'm still giggling and still obsessed with light! Today I posted on the store blog about overhead fixtures to highlight the amazing tablescaping you all are sure to create. I am not hosting this year but if I were I would probably do something similar to last year....

The Calm Before The Storm

This weekend marks the last before holiday festivities are in full swing. Its time to dust off the party dresses, chill the champagne, make a mess of the kitchen, and stock up on hostess gifts! I will be spending my weekend, well, working and basking in the glow of two (two!) new televisions we added to the house last week. Gasp! Its so bad its good.

High Above in a Hot Air Balloon

It would be a first for me but I'd love to take a hot air balloon ride in the fall. Over Napa with Champs and your sweetheart sounds like such a romantic (and thrilling) afternoon!

A Celebration

This weekend we are toasting the 50th wedding anniversary of m in laws. So sweet. They look just as wonderful today as they do in their engagement photo here. Cheers to love and see you all next week!

Colors of a Season

When I was in my twenties it was announced to me by some friends that summer was my season. From the hair to my tan to the grin from ear to ear. I came to life under the bright hot sun. It occurred to me recently that with my thirties I made the transition from hot to cool. I feel in my element this time of year and going back east last weekend brought it all to the surface. I was suffocating in my own shear joy.

Whats not to love.....

Woolly Pockets

I arrived home from DC to find the remnants of a photo shoot that took place at our pad over the weekend. Upstairs and down, inside and out, there are the most beautiful vertical gardens hanging from our walls. They were so generous to gift us the fruits of their labor. Quite literally....


From the looks of it, the entire garden that has popped up outside my kitchen is edible. In addition to the berries there are herbs and kale and cabbage. Almost too pretty to eat.

The indoor plants are equally as spectacular.

I do miss the mirror that this piece replaced so we'll probably have to do some relocating but its a nice temporary change. I love the way plants change a space. Bring it to life. Add a layer of texture and dimension.


These do that and, in the case of the edible garden, more. Because as I said they are almost to pretty to eat....

But not quite.
